Privacy Policy

This explains what Frogly collects about you, why, who sees it and what you can do about it, in plain language.

1. The short version

  • We collect only what we need to run Frogly: your sign-in details, what you choose to add to your profile, and what you do in the app.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers.
  • What you post in debates and questions is public. Your email, your likes and saves, how you voted, and your AI debates are not.
  • When you use an AI feature, the text you write is sent to an AI company to produce the reply.
  • You can edit your profile any time and ask us to delete your account.

2. What we collect

From your Google (or Facebook) sign-in: your name, email address, profile picture, an account ID, and the technical sign-in details the provider gives us. We never see your password.

What you add: your username, bio, interests and profile photo. Photos are cropped, shrunk and stored in our database.

What you do: the side you pick in a debate, your comments and replies, your votes, likes and saves, the questions and answers you post, any reports you file, and your AI debates (what you and the AI wrote, with the scores).

Technical data: when you use Frogly our servers and hosting provider record your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages and requests made, for security, fixing problems and preventing abuse. We also count how often you post, to apply the limits described in the Terms.

We don't collect your precise location, your contacts, or payment details (Frogly is free), and we don't use advertising IDs.

3. What other people can see

Public, to anyone, including people who aren't signed in:

  • your display name and profile photo next to what you post (your name starts as the one on your Google or Facebook account, so change it in Edit profile if you'd rather use something else);
  • your comments, replies, questions and answers, which side you argued in a debate, and the scores and counts those create.

Private to you:

  • your email address, your bio and your interests (only you see your profile page);
  • your likes and saves, and how you voted on individual comments and answers (only the totals are shown);
  • your AI debates and their scores.

4. How we use it

  • To run Frogly: sign you in, show your posts, add up votes and counts, and keep your profile and activity.
  • To keep it safe: apply rate limits, deal with reports, and spot and stop abuse.
  • To produce AI replies, answers and logic scores when you ask for them.
  • To find and fix bugs and keep the service working.

If you live where the law asks for a legal basis, ours are: running the service you asked for (your account and posts), our legitimate interest in keeping Frogly secure and working, and your consent for optional things like using your microphone.

5. AI providers

When you debate the AI, ask an AI question, or request an AI answer, we send the text needed to write the reply to an AI provider: the debate topic, your side, your recent messages in that debate, or your question's title and details. We use OpenAI first and Google (Gemini) as a backup if OpenAI isn't available.

We don't send your name, email or photo with these requests, but anything you write in them goes to the provider, so please don't include sensitive personal information. Each provider handles the text under its own terms and privacy policy, including how long it keeps it.

6. Voice dictation

The microphone button uses your browser's own speech recognition. The microphone is only on while you've switched it on, and your browser sends the audio to its speech service (Google for Chrome and Edge, Apple for Safari) to turn it into text. Frogly never receives the audio. We only receive the text you choose to post.

7. Cookies and similar technology

We use only what's needed to run Frogly: a secure, sign-in session cookie and the small security cookies that go with it. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies today. If that changes, we'll update this page first.

To make Frogly load faster and show an offline page when you have no connection, your browser keeps a copy of our images, icons and app files. It does not keep your personal pages.

8. Who we share data with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the companies that help us run Frogly, and only as needed:

  • Google (and Facebook, if you use it) for signing in;
  • OpenAI and Google, for AI replies as described above;
  • our database provider and our hosting provider, who store and serve the data for us.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or if Frogly is transferred to someone else (we'd tell you, and this policy would still apply).

9. Where your data is kept

Our database is currently hosted in the United States. If you use Frogly from elsewhere, your information is sent to and stored in the United States, and to the AI providers' servers, which may be in other countries.

10. How long we keep it

We keep your account and what you've posted while your account exists. Server logs are kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting. After you delete your account we remove your personal details as described below.

11. Your choices and rights

You can change your name, username, bio, interests and photo any time in Edit profile, and remove your photo.

You can ask us to delete your account. Deleting it erases your name, email, photo, username, bio, interests and linked sign-in details, and deletes your private AI debates. So that other people's conversations still make sense, your comments, questions and answers stay up but show as coming from "Deleted user". If you want particular posts removed too, tell us which.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to object to or limit how we use it, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact us and we'll help.

12. Children

Frogly is not for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 13, we'll delete it.

13. Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections, access controls, and by not storing passwords at all (you sign in through Google or Facebook). No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and two-step verification on the account you sign in with.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Frogly changes. We'll say so in the app when something important changes, and the date at the top of the page will change.
